Heard of rowdies instigated by a rich man at SaN-Khk-eng going into the chapel and destroying books etc. Sian Tien' the Preacher wrote an accusation and sent it into the Yamen - At midnight the examination came off. The Mandarin (Tamsui Koai) asked the Preacher why he gave up Confucius (譯註: 原稿為Confucious) and embraced Jesus? It was a good chance to say a word for our Master. Lien said' "Because I wish to worship the Creator of Heaven and earth" etc. The Mandarin became dumb and turned off to something else. - The Priest went to see Official about a case of his own' but was refused admittance. -
